The Pavilion

The pavilion is a 'T' shaped building and is the focal point of the club and also houses the Kitchen, Sauna, Changing Room, Showers and Toilet facilities.

The main part of the pavilion is comfortably furnished and has as a central feature a Wood Burning stove. This provides a relaxing area for members all year round and also includes a library of books and magazines to suit most tastes so there is always something available to read.

The Kitchen

The Kitchen is available for use by the members at all times and is very well equipped with the following items. Cooker, Microwave Ovens, Toasters, Electric Kettles, full ranges of Plates, Cups, Saucers, Cutlery and Glassware. Also for the use of members are refrigerators and freezers to store food whilst at the club.

The idea is that members bring their own ingredients for food and drink and can then prepare / cook whatever they need whilst at the club. This facility is provided free of charge but we do expect members to wash up and put away all items of club equipment used and to leave the kitchen clean and tidy for other members.  Tea and coffee ingredients are available for sale should you forget or not wish to bring your own.  Snacks and Ice Creams are also for sale during the summer months.                                                                              Back to top.

The Sauna

The sauna is of a good size and can accommodate up to 12 persons at one time. The sauna is available for the use of members at any time the only without charge, the only stipulation being that a minimum of 4 adults are using the facility in order to justify the heating of water (which is by electric) for the showers and for safety reasons.

The sauna is powered by a Finnish Wood Burning Sauna Stove and full instructions in it's operation are posted on the outside of the Sauna Room. The sauna is very efficient and takes less than and hour to reach operating temperature. Back to top.

Showers and Toilets

The showers and toilets are housed in the recently extended part of the pavilion and are as you would expect, clean and modern. There are no charges for the use of the showers but like most other aspects of the club, members are expected to clean up the area after use ready for other members to use. Members need to provide their own towels and toiletries. Back to top

Swimming Pool

The swimming pool is an above ground pool but of a good size being 50 square metres in area with a constant depth of 1 metre. The pool is constantly filtered with a pressure sand filter and the water quality is regularly tested and the chemical balance well maintained via a salt chlorinator system thus ensuring the water is always healthy and in a crystal clear condition. Whilst the pool relies on the suns rays for heating it does in fact warm up quickly in warm spells and is therefore a very popular feature for all members young and older. Back to top

Camping

For members only we have camping pitches and some limited places for caravans / camper vans allowing members to stay on site for short periods. A small fee is charged per pitch per night but is well below conventional campsite rates.

Of course all of the clubs facilities are available to the campers at no extra costs so cooking and eating is easy as we have our own fully fitted kitchen and equipment (see above). So camping at Avonvale is a lot more easy than at conventional campsites. Back to top

BBQ's

BBQ's are a great social feature at Avonvale and are held most Saturdays and occasional other nights throughout the summer months. Members bring their own food and drink and we all cook at the same time on the clubs communal BBQ fires and therefore all sit down about the same time to eat and chat together. The club has ample tables and chairs so again there is no need to bring your own unless you really want to. Because we are in a unique woodland location we only allow BBQ's on the clubs own fires so individual BBQ's are not allowed due to the possible risk of fire. Back to top

Storage

It can be a real pain to bring sun loungers to the club every time you visit so we have storage facilities to store sun loungers etc. which are rented to members for a small nominal sum per year. You can of course bring your equipment with you and take it home again if you wish but the storage facility is available for those who wish to make use of it. As this is a members club and non profit making it does bring in a few extra pounds a year which all goes into the running, maintenance and improvements to the club. Back to top

Child Protection

At Avonvale we take child protection very seriously so members with children do not have to worry about the safety of their children. Avonvale is a very safe place for all members but we have an appointed Child Protection Officer that parents can speak to at any time should there be any concern whatsoever with respect to their children. All the parents we have had past and present have been very happy with the safe and friendly environment that exists at Avonvale. In fact the club has seen many children grow from toddlers to adults. Site Rules

Like all organisations Avonvale has a set of rules but these are not too onerous and are by and large basically bound by common sense so our rules are reproduced below for information. In addition to the Site Rules the club also has another set of rules known as the Constitution and General Rules and these mainly deal with the administration and day to day running of the club

1 . PAVILIONThe main pavilion is a club amenity for all members of the Club. It is not to be used for overnight sleeping or for the storage of personal clothing, chairs, camping equipment etc.. The cooker is available for use by members on the understanding that the member is responsible for any cleaning required after its use and that the mains switch is turned off after use.
2. REFUSEAll personal refuse (tins, milk bottles, wine and beer containers, together with other waste) must be taken away from the site. Members are expected to keep the site tidy and to respect the natural beauty of the club site.
3. CLUB EQUIPMENTClub equipment is not to be removed from the site without the express permission of the committee.
4. GATESThe entrance gate is to be kept closed at all times. Each member attending and leaving the grounds is to ensure the gate is closed after entry and exit with the chain and padlock secured and scrambled.
5. LEAVING THE SITEA member who is the last to leave is to ensure the toilets, shower room, store rooms, pavilion and lower pavilion are securely locked and the curtains and Kitchen blind are closed. The water heater should be switched off. The fire security book should be signed.
6. FIRESNo open fires including barbecues are permitted other than on organised working days or special functions, or when 2 or more families are cooking and it shall be the responsibility of those members who light the fires to ensure that they are extinguished before they leave the site or retire for the night when camping.
Members are requested to exercise the utmost care with matches, open stoves, cigarette ends etc. whilst in the club grounds and pavilion. The sauna and clubhouse fires must not be emptied, just close the doors.
7. RADIOS etc.The use of radios and other musical instruments is permitted provided the volume of sound does not offend any other member.
8. CHILDRENParents are reminded that children must be under parental control at all times and are not allowed to be a nuisance to other members of the club or damage club property. For their own safety children under 13 must not enter the pavilion kitchen at any time.
9. SWIMMING POOLParents are solely responsible for their children whilst in the swimming pool and an adult appointed by the parent must accompany children under 12. The instructions and rules displayed by the entrance to the pool are to be observed at all times. Nudity is obligatory at all times in the pool. No diving.
10. SUNBATHINGDuring early Spring and late Autumn care is to be taken not to offend any persons who may have access to adjoining land.

Camping by non-members is allowed only with the prior permission of the Committee. No unoccupied caravan, motor caravan, tent or trailer tent may remain within the Club grounds overnight without the permission of the Committee The Committee may delegate any of their responsibilities under this rule to a Sub-committee or individual member.
12. NOISEMembers are reminded that our site is subject to temporary planning permission which is reviewed by the District Council from time to time. In view of the proximity of some of the local residents members are requested to be ever mindful of causing excessive noise within the club grounds especially at night times.
13. CLEANLINESSMembers are expected to leave the toilets, wash basins, shower room, kitchen and other equipment provided for communal use in the same state as they would hope to find it.
14 DOGSDay visitor’s dogs will be allowed into the club grounds but must be kept in an area defined by the Committee and controlled at all times and exercised outside the Club grounds. Owners must collect and dispose of any ‘fouling’ produced by their pets. Such pets must also be kept under control at all times so as not to become a nuisance e.g. excessive barking or other noises would be considered a nuisance. The Committee will have the right at any time to ask any member to remove their pet(s) from the Club grounds if the pet(s) is/are causing a nuisance to other members of the Club.
